The city of london pub tour
Join me for one of my favourite historical pub tours of London as we travel from Blackfriars to Holborn! On this walk, we will visit 4 fascinating pubs, each with a story or two to tell. So have drink with me as we explore the streets and alleys of Olde London Town!! Discover:
- An art nouveau gem built on the site of one of London's great monasteries
- An atmospheric tavern built in 1667 and popular with famous writers
- The oldest pub in the City of London (arguably) - this tiny establishment was built to house the Bishop of Ely's servants
- A mock-Tudor tavern which evokes merry old England
- One of London's most famous streets and discover the history behind one of the city's oldest churches.
- The possible burial place of a defeated king
The royal scandals Tour
Join me for a right royal romp around the city! On this tour, I will introduce you to three of the many scandals to hit this famous family over the centuries.
- Explore the story of a Queen who fell in love with a much younger courtier, resulting in a power struggle and ending in tragedy and bloody execution.
- Discover how Britain's most revolting monarch kept a secret wife while having a tempestuous relationship with his legitimate Queen, resulting in the doors of Westminster Abbey being shut in her face during his coronation.
- Meet the king who gave up his throne for the woman he loved, and in doing so, rocked the royal family and indeed, the nation, to its core
The Shakespeare Tour
I am particularly excited about taking you on this tour, as William Shakespeare is one of my heroes. I have studied his life and works, taught theatre workshops in many countries based on his plays, and played some of his greatest characters. So it is my absolute pleasure to walk along the Southbank with you on this tour and introduce you to a part of London which the bard would have been very familiar with. Discover the following and listen to extracts along the way.
- A cathedral where he worshipped
- A pub where he drank
- The site of the original Globe Theatre as well as the functioning replica
However this tour is about more than just shakespeare!
- Discover unusual artworks in the strangest of places
- See the home of London's most famous architect
- Listen to the dispute between outraged residents and a major London art gallery
