Along the south Bank

The Romans wouldn’t have chosen Londinium as a base without the River Thames.  We are so lucky to have this historic river flowing through the centre of our city, crossed by 35 individual bridges.  On this walk we follow the Thames along the dynamic South Bank of the river, the heart of London’s cultural scene.  The National Theatre and the BFI Film Theatre are world class venues.

The narrow alleys close to London Bridge will remind you of a darker past before we enter the final section featuring The Shard and Tower Bridge.  This walk inspires photography.

Why was Cardinal Cap Alley notorious?

Why did an oil billionaire make a mistake when buying a bridge?

Why is there a stone spike on the south side of one of London’s famous bridges?

The tour is approximately 3 hours long.

The Meeting Point is outside Embankment Station

The Finishing Point is Tower Bridge

This walk was wonderful, delving into London’s pickled history and tickling the dark underbelly of its less glorious moments. London’s beautiful skyline and the magnificent views were brought to life by Gary’s energetic and knowledgeable narrative. From Westminster to Borough market;  kings to conspirators;  pestilence to wobbly bridges;  there was intrigue, lost love, shock, horror and laughing so hard it brought tears on. The tour was brilliant from start to finish and is thoroughly recommended for everybody,  Now if they’d only bring back the heads of traitors on London Bridge….
